Christine and I have wondered at times how our doing ministry in a different cultural context affects our young kids, particularly Morgan. Morgan for the most part seems to just roll with it.

But we had a fun reminder on the plane home from our staff conference yesterday that she is in fact aware of the culture and ethnicity differences and these experiences are actively shaping her.

We were taking her back to the bathroom on the plane when she saw an Asian-American woman reading at the back of the plane.

She turned to Christine and asked, “Mama, do we know her?”

We got a good laugh about it, but clearly she is taking in the fact that in a lot of settings that we bring her too there are mostly Asian-Americans in attendance
