Random Recommendation

When able I’ve been watching the series Merlin on NBC this summer.  I’ve always been a sucker for mythology – Greek, British, or otherwise.  Anyway, I checked it out of curiosity and because the lead actor (Merlin) is named Colin Morgan – the names of my two kids.  Due to the void of programming this summer it’s been the one show I’ve tried to keep up with. It’s a show with a specific demographic, but I just watched a show that aired a couple weeks ago that I thought was a very good show as it relates to illustrating the concept of servant leadership and the relationship between the character of a leader and the collective fortunes of the community.  Since those are common themes both in this blog and my general thought life, I’d thought I’d share it due to the convenience of hulu.com.You don’t need to track the series to take in this episode.  Arthur is not king of Camelot yet.  He’s a King in “training” and Merlin is his personal servant.  Merlin has not revealed his magical abilities to Arthur or Camelot.  This episode more than any other thus far highlights the question of whether Arthur is truly “ready” for the immense mantle of leadership that is about to be passed onto him.I liked the contrast portrayed between the kind of leader his father is and the kind of leader Arthur is and is choosing to become.  If you check it out, come back and leave a comment with any thoughts or reflections on it.  I’d love to hear them. The link to the video on hulu is:http://www.hulu.com/watch/89805/merlin-the-labyrinth-of-gedref
