Rough Weekend for Chicago

by Beav on September 14, 2009

Since I still reserve the right to blog about anything I want, including my sports teams – I got to say this was a brutal weekend for Chicago.First, the Cubs continue to perform like the B-league team they are.  They’re winning more, but it just doesn’t matter because of how bad they’ve been.Second, $21 million man Alfonso Soriano got knee surgery and is out for the year, adding insult to injury to the fact that he got paid almost $1 million per hit he had this year.Third, even though Michael Jordan finally got inducted into the Hall of Fame, he came off like a petty jerk and arrogant punk at time in his speech.  The lustre around “His Airness’s” legacy got a little duller.Fourth, with the Bears long awaited debut Sunday night Brian Urlacher is lost for the season in the first half of the first game and 4 other players are lost for significant time.Fifth, in the same game the new Chicago football Messiah quarterback Jay Cutler throws 4 interceptions and comes off like a jerk doing it.  I’m still hopeful for Jay as a Bear, but it couldn’t have been a worse start. But something might have redeemed it all. I saw today that former Illinois Senator and current President Obama was outed for an off-the-record comment he made calling Kanye West a “Jack-Ass” for his complete lack of self-regulation at the MTV Music Awards Sunday Night.  My wife was watching some of that last night so I caught the Kanye moment and I got to say, I’m with the Prez on this one.You may not find that Presidential, but I think it’s awesome. Here’s the link to the article.
